G-4, Heavily worn. Draped bust dollar legend and design are visible, but faint in spots. OBV: Legend, stars, and date visible but well-worn. Entire design is worn smooth, with little remaining detail. REV: Ssome letter tops are worn nearly smooth. Eagle is worn flat and only outlined. Rim is partially worn away.
VG-8, Well worn. Design is clear but flat and lacking details. OBV: Entire head is weak, and most hair details are worn smooth. Date and LIBERTY are weak but visible. Parts of the eye and ear are visible. Stars are outlined. REV: Eagle is boldly outlined with only a few details showing in wings and tail. Breast is smooth. Some letters are very weak.
VG-8, Well worn. Design is clear but flat, lacking details. OBV: Date and LIBERTY are weak but clear. Entire head is weak, and most hair details and drapery are worn smooth. Parts of the ear and eye are visible. Stars are outlined. REV: Eagle boldly outlined; only few details in wings. Breast and left leg are smooth. Some letters very weak; rim may be incomplete.

F-12, Moderate to heavy even wear. Entire design is clear and bold. OBV: Some details show in hair ends and below ear. Date, all letters, and stars are weak. The ear and eye are clear. Hair at top of forehead is outlined. REV: Some feathers are visible in body, wings, and tail. Breast and head are smooth. Eye is visible. Letters in legend are worn but clear.
F-12, Entire design is clear and bold. Moderate to heavy even wear. OBV: Some details show in hair ends, curls, and at left of ear. Date, all letters, and stars are visible. The ear and eye are clear. Bust is worn with a few drapery lines remaining. REV: Half the feathers are visible on the wings. Breast and left leg are smooth. Letters in legend are worn but clear.
VF-20, Light to moderate even wear. All major flowing hair dollar features are sharp. OBV:shown. Half of the details still show in hair. Eyebrow, ear, and bust are worn but bold. Parts of shoulder are smooth. Every letter and star is plainly visible. Star centers are nearly flat. REV: Head and breast are worn, but some feathers are visible. Half of the details in wings and tail are clear.
VF-20, All major draped bust features are sharp. Light to moderate even wear. OBV: More than half of the details still show in hair. Forehead and bust are worn but bold. Parts of drapery are smooth. Letters and star centers are plainly visible. REV: Left leg and breast are worn, but some feathers are visible. About three-quarters of details in wings are clear.
VF-30, Light to moderate even wear. Major features sharp. OBV: Three-quarters of flowing hair details show. Hair above forehead is worn but has some bold features. Parts of star centers, eyebrow, and ear are very weak. REV: Feathers are worn but more than half of the wing details are visible. Some of the details in head and breast are clear unless weakly struck.
VF-30, Major features sharp. Light to moderate even wear. OBV: Three-fourths of hair details show. Parts of drapery are worn smooth. Hair above forehead is worn but has some bold features. REV:shown. Wing edges are worn but most central details are visible. Some of the details in left leg and breast are clear.
